The start of August brought us an almost unbearable heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 34°C in some places, amid A-level results drama and government U-turns.

Due to school being out for most of 2020, A-level students picking up results were met with even more nerves and uncertainty on the big results day.
An algorithm which helped decide those all-important grades - following the cancellation of exams - seemed to downplay achievements for 40 per cent of all pupils nationally.
