Freshwater anglers ply the ponds for trout, bass and chain pickerel with live bait, jerkbaits and scented artificials, while others gear up for shellfishing.
Mackerel are thick in the east end of the Canal where some schoolie stripers are being caught on jigs, and trout and bass take various live baits and suspending jerkbaits in the ponds.
Bass and blues blitz on mullet, spearing and peanut bunker on the south side, keeper tog are caught throughout Buzzards Bay and along the Elizabeths, and bluefin tuna take live pogies south of the Vineyard.
Albies hang around Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeths, rec. size bluefin bite in Cape Cod Bay and south of the Vineyard, and bigger bass reach the south side of Cape Cod.
