The truck hit powerlines and blocked the entire highway, causing major backups for anyone driving through the area. It is not known what caused the logging truck to hit the lines, but it happened near Deadman Creek. Inland Northwest towns choked by wildfire smoke, some with unhealthy -level air quality

SPOKANE, Wash. Unhealthy smoke is sweeping across Eastern Washington and North Idaho as wildfires continue to burn in the Inland Northwest. The National Weather Service warns that moderate and unhealthy air qualities have been reported in areas like Lewiston, the Nez Perce Reservation, Okanogan, Colville and Coeur d’Alene. City Council approves opening emergency warming, cooling centers at less extreme temperatures

Now, the conditions for city warming shelters, cooling centers and safe air centers have been eased so that more people can take advantage of them. The Spokane City Council approved changes that allow these shelters to open under less extreme circumstances; changes that include: Warming shelters must now open when temperatures fall below 32 degrees, and the city can decide to open at higher temperatures Cooling centers will open when National Weather Service forecasts two or more consecutive days that are at least 95 degrees
