Two days of music highlight 2nd annual Ellwood City Summer Band Bash

7:30 p.m. PJ Rillo & The Western Spirit 8:30 p.m. Bobby Thompson & The Groove Koehler Brewery will sell beer. Pappy Rick s Kettle Corn returns, along with the Ellwood City Little Wolverines selling baked goods, deep-fried Oreos, refreshments and more.  The event includes 50/50 raffles and free prize give always between each act based on Ellwood City trivia. Admission is $8 Friday, $10 Saturday, $15 for a two-day wristband, all benefiting the Ellwood City fireworks show. With Ellwood City s huge July 4 Ewing Park festival canceled, this smaller, ticketed event hopes to fill some of the void.  It ll be awesome to provide the community something to look forward to, Rayner said.

Ellwood Band Bash returns; Blackhawk s Samuel Mancini releases pop LP

R&B/pop singer Samuel Mancini made his live radio debut Thursday, performing three songs on Beaver County s WBVP/WMBA-FM (99.3). The Patterson Township native s Feed The Fire mixtape debuted Feb. 26, reaching No. 58 on the Billboard sales chart, and the Top-20 of the iTunes Pop Chart. Mancini mixes blissful melodies with a dazzling vocal range, particularly on Reckless, a song about moving on from an unfulfilling relationship.   Electropop flourishes abound on Who s Gonna Be There, which has logged 3 million Spotify streams. The Blackhawk grad, and son of Beaver County Judge Richard Mancini, told WBVP-WMBA listeners he s Influenced by early 1990s vocal acts like Boyz II Men and George Michael.

As the weather warms up, folks are turning outdoors for solace. Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, health officials continue to emphasize the importance of social distancing when possible. For many who want to make up for lost time with family and friends, and get outside, kayaking has become a popular pastime.  There are more kayakers than ever, said Mike Parker, communications director with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.  People are itching to get out this spring, he said. Last year, we sold 40% more launch permits than we did in 2019. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Fish and Boat Commission has advocated for outdoor activities, saying activities like fishing, kayaking and others can be done safely.
