Two detectives were shot and wounded during an armed siege in Dublin, which saw a gunman barricade himself into his home.
The plainclothes detectives, in their 30s, were shot while investigating reports of gunshots in a housing estate in Clonsilla, in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin, on Tuesday evening.
Both male detectives suffered gunshot wounds to the foot, while one also had a hand-wound, during the events at Whitechapel Grove just after 7.30pm, according to An Garda Síochána, the Irish police service.
Footage taken by an eyewitness at the scene shows Garda members apparently sheltering behind vehicles on the estate during the armed stand-off.
