Health authorities do not believe a child who was rushed to hospital after an underwater incident at a Victorian beach yesterday was attacked by a shark, but beaches remain under surveillance.
The seven-year-old boy suffered a bleeding gash at Thirteenth Beach in Barwon Heads yesterday, which resulted in its closure.
Swimmers were also told not to enter the water at Breamlea, Connewarre, Ocean Grove and Wallington as lifesaving crews searched the area.
