than an hour passed between the first 911 call and when the shooter was killed. cnn s shimon prokupecz pressed authorities for answers divergent a press conference friday. you say there were 19 officers gathered in the hallway or somewhere. what efforts were made to try and break through that door you say was locked? what effort were the officers making to try and break through either that door or another door to get inside that classroom? none at that time. why? the on-scene commander at the time believed it had transitioned from an active shooter to a barricaded subject. you have people who are alive, children who are calling 911 saying please, send the police. they are alive in that classroom. there are lives that are at risk. that s not we re well aware of that. right. why was this decision made not to go in and rescue these children? again, the on-scene commander considered a barricaded subject and there was time and no children at risk. obviously, you

military aid and humanitarian aid for ukraine, bringing america s support for the effort to nearly 54 billion with no other country having that large of a financial or military or humanitarian commitment, it s expected to pass the senate early next week before heading to the president s desk for signing. that bill along with leaks from the biden administration in recent days seems to underscore just how embroiled the united states has become in the war in ukraine. on may 4th, new york times reported senior american officials said the u.s. provided intelligence that allowed ukrainians to take out as many as 12 russian generals. the next day, an nbc report cited anonymous u.s. officials u.s. intel also helped ukraine sink the flagship of the moskva. there s growing concern the aid the u.s. is providing ukraine could trigger all-out conflict with russia. my next guest re-enforced that fear in a recent column the new york times, they suggest we are no longer in an indirect war

Thank you for being with us. We are going to begin with the crackdown on increasingly defiant and dangerous protests on College Campuses across the country over the war in gaza. Tonight, at Columbia University, the epicenter of the demonstrations, dozens of propalestinian students have barricaded themselves inside a campus building, and they now face expulsion from the ivy league school. A White House Spokesman today saying forcibly taking over buildings is not peaceful, it is wrong. At the university of North Carolina in chapel hill, police forcefully removed protesters this morning. More than half of those arrested were not even affiliated with the university. In recent weeks, protests have been staged at more than 60 campuses. More than a thousand people have been arrested. Many protesters are calling for the schools to taught ties with companies linked to israel and to be transparent about their investments. Cbss tom hanson leads us off tonight from Columbia University in manhattan
