AUBURN, ALA. – Three-seed Florida State (34-24) lost to No. 14 national seed Auburn (39-19) Saturday night, falling to the Tigers 21-7 in front of 3,409 fans at Plainsman Park. The Seminoles will now play two-seed UCLA in an elimination game Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
Auburn broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs before recording the first out. FSU’s three pitchers in the inning – Conner Whittaker, Ross Dunn and Kyle McMullen – were all making their NCAA Tournament debuts for the Seminoles.
Trailing 3-0, FSU got on the board in the third inning on Alex Toral’s 13th double of the year. He leads FSU with 49 RBI on the season.
Auburn’s seven runs in the fourth inning were the most FSU has allowed in any inning this season.
Bryce Hubbart (8-3) made the start for the Seminoles, allowing three runs (two earned) in 2.2 innings of work. Auburn starter Joseph Gonzalez (7-2) allowed four hits and three runs over 6.0 innings.

CHAPEL HILL – After rallying back from a four-run deficit in the first inning – and leading in the ninth – Florida State (32-20, 15-13 ACC) lost 7-5 to North Carolina (32-19, 13-15) on a walk-off three home run from Alberto Osuna. It was Osuna’s second three-run home run of the game. North Carolina led 4-0 after the first inning, scoring all three runs against FSU starter Carson Montgomery. Montgomery, Conner Whittaker and Wyatt Crowell (5-1) combined to keep the Tar Heels off the board for seven innings until Osuna’s ninth-inning home run. FSU slowly clawed back into the game before taking the lead in the eighth inning. Jaime Ferrer doubled in the fourth inning and scored on James Tibbs’ single. Logan Lacey’s solo home run later that inning made the lead 4-2 UNC. In the sixth, Ferrer hit his eighth home run of the season, over the scoreboard in left field. BRIGHTON, MASS. – Parker Messick struck out 12 batters – a career-best in a road game – and lowered his season ERA to 2.56, but Boston College (19-28, 5-20 ACC) topped Florida State (26-17, 11-11) 3-2 Friday night at Harrington Village Athletic Park. Messick allowed just five hits in a career-high-tying 8.0 innings, with no walks. For the season, Messick leads the country with 128 strikeouts and just 12 walks. He has double-digit strikeouts in 13 career games and eight this season. Florida State tallied four hits in the first inning against Joe Mancini (4-3), scoring a pair of runs on singles from James Tibbs and Reese Albert. Mancini retired the next 23 batters before Brett Roberts singled in the ninth inning. It was the first complete game against the Seminoles since 2019. A leadoff hit batter came around to score in the second inning for the Eagles, and BC tied the game on a two-out infield single in the fifth inning.
