Her alleged kidnapper 19year old fernando castro. The search for rural spans from Northern California down south. In Santa Barbara county shortly after an amber alert was issued on her behalf thursday, castro was killed in a gun battle with police in the city of solving. Theyre doing everything they can to bring her home. Reporter acting on tips investigators then shifted their focus on the Sonoma County town of jenner. A day after the kidnapping the Sheriffs Office says castros car had been spotted by surveillance cameras in nearby marin county. Search and rescue crews then spent 2 days exploring bushes in nearby waterways. But saturday afternoon that search was suspended indefinitely. I believe she is somewhere close. Exactly that. So im grateful to be here. Im also grateful for the opportunity to talk with a room of leaders who have a tremendous opportunity to have impact on behalf of or our nations children. So i know were going to get to a q a, so i wont speak for long, but i wanted to first try to frame a bit about our progress that weve made over the last seven years, some of the challenges that we face and the opportunities, the tremendous opportunities ahead. Since the beginning of the administration, we have seen significant reductions in the dropout rate. Even in this room knows last year we had the highest Graduation Rate from high school that weve ever had as a country. Thats thanks to leadership from folks in this room. That delay is what a lot of us have focused on and have asked hard questions about why was there that delay . And how do we make sure that doesnt happen again . I do think as a response, w. H. O.
