decision on witnesses and documents and why do you think chuck schumer s will go along with that, if he will? political pressure being in the minority? jessica what mitch mcconnell is saying, look, we want to use the same rules in the senate we used for the bill clinton impeachment trial back in 1998. that was exactly as you laid out. opening statements, an opportunity for questions. then to decide whether or not witnesses get called. i think what s very different here, though, in the case of bill clinton, while there was certainly fighting about the substance of the bill clinton impeachment, there wasn t all of this fighting about process. both parties really did get together and say, look. we might not agree whether he should be impeached but there wasn t a lot of complaining about the fairness. here the president likes to complain about fairness. end of the day, he and the house and the senate will be judged i think harshly if this was all determined by either party to basically b
