Chicago suspends 17 cops caught on video lounging while rioters tore apart nearby businesses

Chicago Police suspended 17 cops captured on surveillance video lounging inside a burglarized campaign office of a Democrat congressman as people citywide vandalized and stole from businesses.  The cops are first shown entering the campaign office of Congressman Bobby Rush  around 1am on June 1. Several officers are seen making popcorn and napping in the office at differing times amid the widespread civil unrest last year. Union contract rules allow the cops to appeal their suspensions, the Chicago Tribune reported. Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara told the Chicago Sun-Times that the suspensions of 17 officers and supervisors ranged from one day to 20 days.
