martha, this just in. the secretary of defense lloyd austin is adding his voice to those over speaker pelosi s planned trip. take a listen to what he just said. i remain concerned and you heard me say this before, about the aggressiveness of the p.r.c. and the kind of things that we ve been seeing in the region lately. so i think we have to be vigilant throughout even as we operate in that region. some of pelosi s own democratty colleagues appear to agree with this assessment. it could be a significant distraction if we end up in an escalatory situation around taiwan and it s status. i have confidence the speaker will do the right thing in this moment. i think it risks escalating tensions with china. we re also learning the speaker is asking one republican to join her, a spokes woman for mike mccaul s office said that
