so you wrote about those two scandals today in a blog post at the washington monthly. you asked the question and now i ll make you answer it. why is it getting so much more attention? it s puzzling, isn t it? when you think about it, ensign seems to have all the elements that one would look for in a freeding frenzy. we have a family of values conservative caught up in a sex scandal and corruption and lobbyists and hush money. in those circumstances, giving it s a sitting senator, it s tempting to think the media would be all over this. you would have reporters staked out in front of his house, you would have editorials about him resigning. and yet, none of that s actually happening. most of the attention is focused on rangel, and before this, former congressman massa. and so it does raise the question, of course, why is that? you know, one of the things i see a lot from the left is called this rule called iok, ror. which stands for, it s okay if
charlie rangel, congressman massa, john kerry has a lot of explaining to do, all the tax issues the democrats have had yet they want the bush tax cuts to expire. the president last week played the class warfare card. do you think has an impact on the election in 98 days from now? to be very frank i think those scandals had an impact on the 2006 elections and the 2008 elections to a lesser degree. i think they have affect and i think the american people are sick and tired of this movement we ve seen big government into every aspect of american life, including car companies, health care, including all of those other things that we re seeing a real rebellion. it is a peaceful rebellion. every weekend i go home, i see it is going to be an election day. sean: what do you make of
try to make this about everything else except that? you asked about the larry king question. if he said yes, wouldn t we be looking at this story differently? no, it was still inappropriate behavior. rolling around on the floor with a staffer and invitining younge staffers out to lunch, gay or not gay, it was still inappropriate behavior. he would be able to paint himself as a jim mcgreeveyesque victim. if he played that card differently, he wouldn t be the punch line to every joke. the difference between massa and foley, foley, we were talking around under aged children in the charge of the united states congress. they were serving as parental
