late on friday an appeals court reinstated the abortion ban. this underscores the needs to protect abortion at the federal level. and representatives are fed up. one says it s time for the white house and congress to be more aggressive in the face of republican extremism. do you feel as if this administration and the democratic-controlled congress have so far let down women when it comes to this issue? they ve let the entire country down on so many issues. obviously i first became familiar with you guys because we were fighting for voting rights on a national level. and basically we ve got a five-alarm fire in action action, yet, we have no hope from the feds. we absolutely should have had federal protections a long time ago. we should have made sure we codified roe v. wade and we didn t. now this is where we are. and speaking of that voting rights legislation that would protect and expand voting access, well, that s at a standstill. the george floyd justice and policin
that is pretty much something up donald trump s legal strategy right now. this week the former president and his lawyers asked a federal judge to indefinitely postpone his trial over his mishandling of classified information. in their filing, they have the gall to argue that, quote, the case presents a serious challenge to both the facts and perception of our american democracy. american democracy. and they say that any trial during the presidential election will impact the outcome. now, all of this is pretty ironic considering the defendant here is under investigation for trying to literally overthrow a democratic election. but you don t have to be a lawyer to see through their argument. if the trial a slight until after the election, and trump wins? he could try to use the presidency as a shield from justice. either by directing his own attorney general to dismiss his case, or by trying to pardon himself. and his team isn t really even hiding it. the new york times reported
good evening, i m kaitlan collins, the special counsel s january 6th investigation has been ramping up, and while we know that georgia has been a key focus, we hadn t heard as much about arizona until now. tonight there is new reporting that jack smith s office has subpoenaed the office of the top election official in the state as part of his investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. the arizona republic is reporting that this subpoena came as recently as may, and it was seeking information on two lawsuits, one from the trump campaign, and another from the former arizona republican party chair, kelli ward that alleged fraud and errors in the election results. this also comes on the heels of reporting that donald trump pressured the former republican governor of arizona, doug ducey to overturn the election results, with ducey later telling a donor he was surprised that the special counsel jack smith hadn t called him. my first guest testified before
