are engaging in nothing but politics. joining me now, congressman adam smith, democrat from washington state. nice to see you again. is this true, are democrats just dragging their feet? no, it s really a fascinating situation that congressman nunez has set up. what he s done as chair of the intel committee is shameful and terrible. intel committee is supposed to be a bipartisan committee work are to the national security interests of the committee and never have they had a chairman that s more politicized than nunez. i don t know why he s doing this but it appears he s doing to confuse people about the russia investigation. his memo had a central premise and that was that the entire investigation of donald trump is all based on this controversial dossier. so that s what he put in his memo. what the democrats are attempting to say is, look, particularly when you re talking about carter page, which is who they focused on. the only reason they got a fisa warrant on carter page was beca

cost. he ll trash the fbi, he ll trash the justice department, he ll go after some the most important institutions in our country to protect donald trump. it s so ridiculous. i see republicans come on the air after the release of this nunez memo and say it proves that the entire russia investigation was based on this dossier. that s ridiculous. for one thing we have the meeting at trump tower between russian officials and donald trump jr. and all those other people. we ve got the fact that the russians interfered in our elections, they hacked into it. we got what came out of facebook and twitter, all of the bots and other stuff that russia used. there s a mountain of evidence both of russian interference in our election and uncomfortable connections between those russians and high-ranking officials in donald trump s campaign. and devin nunez is trying to mud dit water. whatever this has to do with the president, this is a matter of national security. what the russians are doing is unde
open source information and see that there was connections between carter page and russian officials going back to 2013 that caused concerns. but what the democrats want to do is say here is what they asked for in the fisa warrant, here s the information it relize lied on. it wasn t the dossier. and then of course the white house is playing games. fbi says don t release the nunez memo, they do. the fbi says we have concerns about the democratic memo don t release is so they don t. this is all about confusing the people about the russia investigation. the dossier is not the key to this and nunez is trying to claim it does. sorry, go ahead. putting elements of a fisa warrant into the public realm has never been done, that is not something that s supposed to be done. but in this case democrats, i believe, think it s okay because it s all about carter page. it s exclusively about him. right. and that s already out there in the public domain, right? exactly. exactly. there s a lot o
