A 72hour humanitarian ceasefire in gaza was supposed to begin today, but the pause in fighting ended about two ours after it began. Officials say more than 1500 people in gaza have died and israel said one of its soldiers was captured during fighting in southern gaza. A short time ago president obama reiterated his support for secretary of state john kerrys efforts to negotiate a ceasefire. When i see john kerry going out there brokering a ceasefire we should all be supporting him. This should not be a bunch of complaints and second guessing well, it hasnt happened yet and nitpicking before he has had a chance to complete his efforts. Nicole johnston is live for us in gaza, and nicole, good to see you again. Now a lot of back and forth fromyoure looking around. Whats going on, first, lets start there. Reporter im just keeping an eye for things. Nothing specific. What do we know about what happened this morning in gaza . Reporter theres two very different stories of what has happened. T
This would be the case where the court has immediate political impact in terms of appointees. It does. There are a lot of eyes on this case, a lot of friend of the court briefs filed because if the court had taken a certain direction with its final decision that could invalidate literally hundreds of decisions and board appointments. Lets take a look at the oral argument, the case nlrb v. Canning. We would argument first this morning in case 121281, the National Labor Relations Board v. Noel canning. General verrilli . Mr. Chief justice, and it please the Court Interpretation of the recess appointed klaus the respondent urges would repudiate the constitutional legitimacy of thousands of appointments by president s going back to George Washington, and Going Forward would diminish president ial authority in a way that is flatly at odds with the constitutional structure the framers established. This armament, but ferg season it seems very much over the top and they seem like they are not at all trained to use it. Tazer. A tazer would have been much more effective in dealing with Michael Brown but they say tazers arent 100 effective. Maybe they ought to make them more effective plus the fact there was a Second Police officer in the car with them, with wilson, i believe. Could be the baku with the gun. I think there is going to be some definitely review of the procedures they used in ferguson and whether those are the ones they were trained. Also, a story came out that t theple was with another Police Department which was so ineffective and so apparently arrive with racism that they fired everybody in the department and hired a new. Some of the people, you could apply for the job, but this particular officer instead got a job in ferguson. You know, that doesnt necessarily say that he was part of the problem there. But we are beginning to learn a little bit more about him and, t
It may be at the point where it may be right to do that. Dan . The answer in my mind, i guess there is a distinction with triangulation. I guess the president is throwing his party overboard to work with republicans that rarely works. I would suggest to some degree it is not that complicated a question. If you have a divided government and want to get something done, you have got to work with the other party. I draw the contrast to that. I was stills immediate predecessor. President bush left and president obama came in. I can remember being interviewed between the election and inauguration by somebody asking how his job would be different from mine. For me it was fairly straightforward. We didnt get anything done if it didnt get past by the democratic congress. He was going to have a Majority Party of the same party. My comment at the time was it is going to be quite a bit different because he is going to rely on democrats, that he will be criticized. Yet he will be criticized. You go
