Despite the century that has elapsed our constitution still does not recognize or guarantee full protection of the law for women and gender minorities. Hj resolution 79 would bring us one step closer. The resolution removes the previous deadline set for ratifying the e. R. A. And will ensure that recent ratifications by nevada , illinois, in virginia are given full effect. The e. R. A. Offers a basic and fundamental guarantee, the equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Thats it. Very simple. In the years since it was passed by overwhelming majorities in the house and senate we have made Great Strides to secure that equality including through existing case law signed under the 14th amendment. President trump. This is 20 minutes. Hello. Now, this is going to be our last Weekly Press Conference for the year and decade. Before we begin if i dont get to see you i want to wish you all a very, very Merry Christmas and prosperous new year. Being our last press conference were going to start where we started about a year ago, talking about impeachment. You watched what transformed last night on this floor. Its something weve said all the time. The weakest, the thinnest, the fastest in u. S. History. Schumer admitted trying to ask for more witnesses that what happened over here was wrong. Now we have the own speaker of the house who is so embarrassed that she admits the failure of this impeachment that she will not even send it to the senate. So embarrassed that i watched in her press conference she wouldnt even take your questions. That is not a good legacy to have. Shes admitting defeat by not sending it, by refusing to send the impeachment over, she knows this outcome is not good
