First thing i want to do is just ask you as, you know, since youve been involved in so many different policy positions over the recent decades, how much of a change do you feel there is in thinking about the effectiveness of these different instruments . And if sanctions are becoming more prominent as a tool for u. S. Foreign policy, does that change who the nature of the of the policy conversation since those who implement sanctions are different than those who implement the use of military force . Well, clearly sanctions are a kind of Foreign Policy tool of the month right now, and i dont mean that, you know, sarcastically. Its what i do. Where do you go from diplomatic pressure short of military force . And sanctions have been developed by the u. S. Policy
How am i going to get through this. Why is this happening to me . My god, my god, why have you fore saken me . That is why there is nothing more comforting or more humbling, really, than to hear someone say im praying for you. Because when you hear that, you realize youre not alone. God is there. And hundreds, if not thousands, if not millions of people are all speaking to him on your behalf. What it says is dignity of the person. As christians, we especially can appreciate this truth. We belief in jesus christ. We believe god came down from heaven and became a man with a name and a body so that we could know him. We could begin to understand. He walked among the poor and the lowly of this world so that he could raise us to new heights in the next. Pray without seizing and in all circumstances give thanks. Enforcement actions and the lessons that we should take away from them. We must recognize that Enforcement Actions are just one part of the answer, so im interested in hearing also about how we can better inform computer users of the dangers of botnets and what other hygiene steps we can take to address this threat. My hope is that this hearing starts a conversation among those dealing day to day with the botnet threat and those of us in congress who are deeply concerned about that threat. Congress, of course, cannot and should not dictate tactics for fighting botnets. That must be driven by the expertise of those on the front lines of the fight, but congress does have an Important Role to make sure there is a solid Legal Foundation for Enforcement Actions against botnets and clear standards governing when they can occur. We must also ensure that botnet takedowns and other actions are carried out in a way that protects consumers privacy. All while recognizing that botnets themselves re
