Police: 1 dead in multivehicle crash involving 3 North High School students

News 12 has learned that a North High School student succumbed to
his injuries today following a multivehicle car accident last night.
The accident happened around 11 p.m. on Congers Road in New City.
Police say one of the drivers, 18-year-old Alan Mendoza, is now
facing a slew of felony charges including vehicular homicide, aggravated
assault, second-degree
manslaughter and other counts.
News 12 is told Mendoza was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

NEW CITY One teen has died and another has been jailed after a 3-car crash at 10:50 p.m. Thursday on Congers Road, Clarkstown police said.
A 16-year-old boy died of his injuries Friday afternoon, police said. A 17-year-old girl remains in serious condition.
Both were passengers in a black Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Alan Mendoza, police said.

Mendoza, 18, faces seven felony charges and one misdemeanor charge: one count of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (felony), one count of Aggravated Vehicular Assault (felony), one count of Manslaughter in the 2nd (felony), two counts of Assault 2nd (felony), Vehicular manslaughter in the 2nd (felony), Driving While Intoxicated (felony) and Reckless Driving.
Former AMA employees David Winne, Mayya Tatsene, Patrycja Wojtowicz, and Kaitlyn Gold pleaded guilty in 2019 in connection with their roles in the scheme, Strauss said. They pleaded to wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
AMA tested the safety and efficacy of cosmetics, sunscreens, and other products on specified numbers of volunteer panelists for consumer products companies.
Strauss said Letizia admitted scamming customers during his plea before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Paul Davison at the federal courthouse in White Plains.
“As he has now admitted, Gabriel Letizia schemed for decades to defraud customers of his laboratory, and caused sunscreens and other consumer products to be sold and marketed to consumers on the basis of false laboratory testing reports, Strauss said.
It happened overnight in Rockland County on Congers Road in New City.
The Clarkstown Police Department said five people were injured in the crash, which was reported around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 in the area of 256 Congers Road, near Clarkstown North High School.
Police officers and members of the New City FD, New City Ambulance, and Rockland Paramedics provided medical attention.
Two of those injured, who were in the same vehicle, remain hospitalized as of Friday morning, May 7, Clarkstown Police said.
One of the drivers has been placed in custody, with charges pending, police said.
Congers Road was closed for several hours overnight, while the crash was being investigated by the Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team.

According to multiple reports, one of the five hospitalized victims has died from injuries sustained in the crash. The victim who died is a student at Clarkstown North.
The Clarkstown School District issued a statement following the student’s death staying that there will be grief counselors and a support team made available.
The victim s identity has not yet been released.
Two of those injured in the crash remain hospitalized, according to police, and one of the drivers was taken into custody with unspecified charges pending.
