A factory in the northern Vietnamese province of Hai Duong has been locked down after a COVID-19 cluster was detected on Thursday, leaving over 2,000 workers stranded inside the facility.
Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd., located at Cong Hoa Industrial Park in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, started to be sealed off from noon on Thursday.
More than 2,000 workers of the firm had gone to work on the morning of the same day.
Following the lockdown, they were unable to leave the factory and needed their friends and family members to supply food, blankets, and other essential items.

A 32-year-old woman from Hai Duong province has tested positive for the new coronavirus variant upon her arrival in Japan.
Mr. Pham Duy Tuyen, Director of Hai Duong Province Centre for Disease Control (CDC), said the woman’s positive test result was available on January 17 at Japan s airport where COVID-19 screening tests are done for all arrivals, but only yesterday did local authorities were informed of the situation.
According to Mr. Tuyen, the woman, named N.T.G, is a worker at POUL, a company based in Cong Hoa Industrial Park in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong and was sent to Japan on an overseas labour agreement on a flight departing from Hanoi and transiting through Singapore on January 17.
