Victoria has recorded 22 new local infections in the last 24 hours.
The Department of Health said all of the 22 cases have been linked to known outbreaks.
The results come from almost 60,000 tests - a new record- with one case also recorded in overseas hotel quarantine.
Premier Daniel Andrews and health authorities are expected to provide an update on the cases later on Wednesday morning.

Unvaccinated Victorians could be refused entry into major events - including AFL, NRL, the Boxing Day Test against England and even the Melbourne Cup - as the state tries to avoid future lockdowns.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has suggested giving fully vaccinated people in the state greater freedoms but there is one major catch before he even considers the move.
Premier Daniel Andrews argued if the Australian vaccine rollout was on track, then an informed discussion could be had once more Australians were vaccinated.
Mr Foley said six cases had low level of exposure sites, thanks to the current lockdown.
“Two days ago, there were only 6 per cent of our daily cases who were fully isolating in quarantine. Today it is 73 per cent which have been fully isolated during their period of infectivity.”

He added there are more than 18,000 primary close contacts linked to the outbreak.
“Because of the nature of how this outbreak started, with so many Victorians just going about their normal life at some significant events, what we’ve seen . is a really high number of people getting caught up as either primary or secondary contacts.”
