Good evening, everyone. Im Erin Burnett Outfront tonight. I want to welcome our viewers from around the world who are watching this storm that weve been watching over 1,000 mile area here on the east coast of the United States. Affecting about 20 of the United States population. Flooding has been the big issue. Where im standing right now, those of you who are watching the earlier, know the water was up above my knee. We set a record here in lower manhattan, in terms of a storm surge. The record is 13. 88 feet, exceeding by almost three feet the record set back in 1960 with hurricane donna. Thats just some of the records weve seen as the storm continues to strike across the 1,000mile area as it continues to head north. In new york, the largest Transit System is closed. The Stock Exchange has been closed. First time since september 11th, 2001. As i mentioned, 11 people confirmed dead across five states as the storm continues. Let me bring in marty markowitz. Thanks very much for taking
Only by helicopter and surveillance but as you can see, on foot and by rescue boats as well. Just a few moments ago a live reporter watching as rescuers brought out a small baby, a child, and an elderly woman all at the same time. Were going to be listening in throughout the next few moments. Lets hear whats happening now. Reporter every time there is a major emergency and these guys are just stepping up and women stepping up to the plate. Let me see if i can get somebody gentlemen, can you sorry. Actually just trying to figure out if theres more coordinated effort. Let me walk over one more time in the staging area and show you some of the faces here, mike, if we can over in the area with some of the people who are waiting here to be rescued should i say to be taken away and find emergency shelter. You know, theres a woman who is just standing there with the one we saw earlier with her dog and her little bag and she looks so cold. And, you know, as we said earlier, the People Holding
