The National Youth Day (NYD) celebration set next year has been postponed because of the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.
The CBCP said that the NYD, which was supposed to happen in Naga City in May 2021, is moved to 2022.
“The gathering will now take place in a still undetermined month in 2022,” CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth Executive Secretary Fr. Conegundo Garganta told CBCP News.
Garganta said that the Archdiocese of Caceres will still be the host of the event in 2022.
“We pray that things will improve and that 2022 will be a better year for our young people to come together,” he said. “It will be the first time that Caceres will host the national youth event.”
