The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to conduct an inflight abort test of the crew escape system (CES) for its Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. The test vehicle, TV-D1, is a single-stage rocket developed to validate the CES performance at different critical Mach numbers. It will demonstrate the system in conditions such as high dynamic pressure and transonic conditions. The test vehicle could also be used for space tourism purposes, with the ability to take a crew module to 100km and back. The Gaganyaan project aims to send a crew of two to three members to a circular orbit around the Earth.
