A Delta State-based activist, Comrade Israel Joe who was arrested by soldiers on Friday at the venue of a protest organised against the economic hardship in the country, has been released by the Nigerian police. Joe confirmed his release in a statement on Saturday morning. SaharaReporters had reported that Joe was handed over by the military to the police who were planning to charge him for terrorism, after accusing him of being behind a protest against hardship and high cost of living in the state.
The planned protest could not hold in the Delta metropolis as it was cancelled after critical stakeholders met and discussed the issues on Thursday night.
