computer crashes, i know my e-mails are still out there on the server. or i know that they are somewhere in the hard drive. i ve known this since prehistoric times like since the late 1980s when they said, it s always there. we have all heard that. they throw the computers away. no. what is going on? republicans in congress need to do a competent investigation. i d like to see some democrats in congress ask tough questions. the press needs to. the president as far as he says there has been no wrongdoing this is all bureaucratic bundling, i think great for him because we need faith in the irs to maybe say we need to take a second look at this. what do you think, mika? oh, definitely. this looks bad, this looks bad. to sort of say it doesn t i would clean house. i m serious. this looks terrible. even if it is some big bungled mistake but i can t even believe that, can you? and maybe it s our own personal feelings toward the irs and what
lerner and six other individuals that were impacted by this as well. so if you have those people that are impacted as well, that s a really alarming statistic, in most cases that doesn t happen, especially in a 90,000 person organization. there is something we really need to get to the bottom of right now and we re not getting the answers that i think we need to actually investigate it. on a 1 to 10 scale and the 10 being the most suspicious. six people including lois lerner had a crashed hard drive what s your level that s bizarre. probably about will and a half to 9 at this point in time. things can happen. computer crashes can happen and if the it organization was in complete disarray and they didn t know how to recover data. about 8 and a half or 9 on on the suspicious radar for sure. could my computer hard drive crash and cause bret baier in the next office his computer hardware, his computer hard drive to crash? no, not at all. they are completely independent systems. in
credit card fees and all of these things that occurred as a result of overregulation from washington that caused us to have this hatred toward the banks. there s other areas, big business. big business, 21% so i think that there s just a huge confidence problem in general that people aren t always understanding why they re hating these entities and that really it s a big bureaucracy and red tape and regulation from washington hurting these companies. why do you think they re hating these entities? why? so low in approval? i think that trust is a big issue. i mean, if you look at relationships, just personal relationships you ve had in your life, you too start to kind of hate the people who aren t open and honest with you. i mean, it s insidious. you can t help it. your heart just feels that way. how about finding things that the american people might like? you know, like let s revisit the tax system so it s not so difficult examine we don t feel like victims when things go wrong an
lerner s emails disappeared. the irs says they were lost after lerner s hard drive crashed and even expert measures to try to retrieve some of them have failed. the new irs commissioner was unapologetic about these computer crashes and a two-month long delay in telling congress about this problem. we are committed to continuing to working cooperatively and transparently with you, this committee and we will continue to provide you with updates. this concludes my testimony. i d be happy to take your questions. well, thank you. what i didn t hear in that was an apology to this committee. i don t think an apology is owed. there is not a single email has been lost since the start of this investigation. every email has been preserved that we have. an interesting way to kick off a hearing. dana bash has been watching this and this was contentious from the get-go.
