2020 Ford Ranger Performance Pack Level 3: Pros And Cons
Feb 17, 2021 at 12:00pm ET ++ A bargain bruiser that stands out on the road.
The big, exciting news surrounding the Ford Ranger is the arrival of a new off-road-ready Tremor trim for the 2021 model year. Spoiler alert: it s good. But if you re a current Ranger owner, maybe don t scramble to your dealer for a trade-up right away, because Ford Performance has you covered.
Launched in June of 2020, the Ranger Performance Packs cover three price points. The $2,495 Level 1 is a simple suspension update, new wheels, and a graphics pack. The $4,495 Level 2 expands on that with an ECU tune, BFGoodrich KO2 tires, Rigid lighting, and neat blue tow hooks. What we have here, though, is the $8,995 Level 3 package.
2020 Ford Expedition Review: Still Fighting ++
Verdict 7.6 / 10
The auto industry is little more than a fist fight, with every brand trying to knock out its rivals. Rather than throwing haymakers, though, these companies launch newer, smarter, more dynamic products. And with every blow that lands, you can be sure the competition is winding up for its own counterattack.
That s where we join Ford and Chevrolet. After the Blue Oval launched its well-received and long-overdue reinvention of the three-row Ford Expeditionin 2018, it enjoyed a few years with a staggered Chevrolet. Late last year, though, the new Tahoe and Suburban SUVs arrived, and with them, advanced technology and far better driving dynamics.
2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 Wagon Review: Fast Lane For Five ++
Verdict 9.3 / 10
With all the doom and gloom regarding the current state of the station wagon in the US, there is some good news. American buyers at least have three fast wagons at their disposal in 2021 (assuming they can afford any of them): the Audi RS6 Avant, the Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo, and the vehicle you see pictured here – the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon. And each one of these wonderful long-roofs is very good in its own way.
The E63 S in particular blends German luxury and technology with AMG grunt, creating a sizable package that s impossible to ignore. And with modest updates for the 2021 model year that extend throughout the E-Class range, there are few arguments against the 603-horsepower AMG in the search for your next fast family hauler.
2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge Review: More Tired Than Wired ++
Verdict 8.7 / 10
For a time, it seemed like plug-in hybrids would be the stepping stones for the mass EV adoption. People could get comfortable with charging and retain the flexibility of gas, while the public EV infrastructure had time to build up. The Volvo XC90 T8 is a good example of why that idea never really came to fruition.
With just 14 miles of electric range when it arrived in 2015, the $69,095 2016 XC90 T8 carried a price tag nearly $20,000 higher than a comparable gas-powered model. Sure, it was more powerful and came with a federal income-tax credit, but neither an extra 130 horsepower nor a $4,600 savings from Uncle Sam could overshadow its poor value.
