CONCORD â Geography has always played an important role in the Special Olympics New Hampshire Winni Dip events. The âWinniâ being short for Lake Winnipesaukee.
Itâs still too soon to be considering any gatherings on the shores of the Big Lake but the Winni Dip events are important fundraisers for Special Olympics New Hampshire and will be held this year in a socially-distanced manner.
Like the Dipâs big brother fundraising event The Penguin Plunge, this yearâs Dips will be âDIYâ events leaving the âwhenâ and âwhereâ of participantsâ Winni Dip completely up to them. Winni Dip events include the Community Winni Dip, the Cool Schools Winni Dip for middle and high school students, the Law Enforcement Winni Dip for police and public safety personnel and the 24-Hour MEGA Dip event that requires one dip an hour for 24 consecutive hours. The 2021 Winni Dip is presented by Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast.

HAMPTON For the first time in more than two decades, the water temperature at Hampton Beach for Penguin Plunge weekend was irrelevant.
This year’s event to raise funds for Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) was a do it yourself plunge. Plungers were tasked with finding their own water source and location to plunge anytime between Feb. 3 and Feb. 7th.
With a nod to Dr. Seuss, the theme was “Oh The Places We’ll Go,” owing to the fact that participants could take their plunge anywhere they wanted to as long as it was safe to do so.
