Chief justice, members of the General Assembly, honored guests, today i welcome the opening of the legislative session with the same optimism i had as a freshman senator of Washington County nearly two decades ago. I come before you to report on the state of the state, to reflect on the work weve done and to share a vision and priorities for our future. As elected officials, its our duty to distinguish what must be done from what we might like to do, and to Work Together, pulling in the same direction to make a difference for those we serve.
