Rohingya Refugee Response - Bangladesh Factsheet - Public Health (April 2021) Format Progress (March - April 2021) In preparation of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout to refugees, the Community Health Working Group, led by UNHCR, trained over 100 Community Health Worker supervisors on vaccine-related communication and community mobilization. Messaging and information materials were also developed for use in the camps. The rollout date has not yet been announced by the Government, and there are ongoing challenges as the vaccine stock currently in country is limited. UNHCR will continue advocating for the early arrival of Bangladesh’s COVAX allocation. Meanwhile, following the Government’s decision to include humanitarian workers in the early phases of the national vaccination campaign, the majority of humanitarian national and international staff in Cox’s Bazar received the first vaccine doses.

New World, New Radio: Cox’s Bazar community radios’ resolve to help WHO wind up COVID-19 infodemic New World, New Radio: Cox’s Bazar community radios’ resolve to help WHO wind up COVID-19 infodemic 11 February 2021 Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh When COVID-19 hit globally, in Bangladesh and in Cox’s Bazar, the Communications with Communities Working Group (CwC WG) and the ISCG activated a Risk Communication and Community Engagement Working Group (RCCE WG) to enable real-time exchange of information to prepare vulnerable groups for COVID-19 pandemic. Together, CwC WG agencies, Translators Without Borders, BBC Media Action, UNICEF, UNHCR, WHO, and representatives from Health/Community Health Working Group and the WASH sector, implemented a community outreach strategy that included utilizing all channels available to wind up the COVID-19 infodemic, mitigate misinformation and rumors, and promote health and well-being.
