Called in around 5 45 p. M. , and was well underway with flames shooting out of the multistory Apartment Building under construction in the 2000 block of University Avenue near shattuck. A nearby restaurant worker watch build inning get swallowed up in flames shortly after the fire broke out. The fire flames, too much fire flames, middle part of the building. Its, like, going higher and higher. The entire middle of the building was up in flames. Reporter mutual aid from at least half a dozen departments were called in to help wrest the flames down. We saw a bunch of firefighters coming down the street, blearing away, and we looked out, and it looked like just the top of the billing was on fire for a minute. Reporter firefighters garden evacuating businesses. We had fire threatening the buildings around it, multiple apartments and businesses, all of which have been evacuated. Further more, the mayor and governor have issued emergency orders suspending select laws to commissions and making it possible to hold hearings remotely. The Planning Commission received authorization to reconvene remotely through tend of the shelter in place. The authorization directs the commission to prioritize consideration of action items pertaining to informing, housing and to infrastructure, housing and Small Businesses. I am requesting everyones patience in advance. It is not perfect and at times may appear clumsy. Do not hit any controls that may affect other participants. Ministries, correctional institutions chaplaincy is a nonprofit formed in the epi60s and incorporated in the 70s as a joint effort with the evangelical association and the council of churches. At that point, we were one of the few remaining love childs of that movement. So, were here with a specific purpose of serving all of the men, women and youth incarcerated in santa clara count. Were nonprofit. Part of our budget comes from the county. Okay. Part of the budget comes from local churches, faith communities and individuals who are supporting of this ministry. So, tell us a bit about the Santa Clara County system and who is there, how many prisons there are. What kind of population is there . Yes. The population there is down to 3500 people now. Over the last few wores, the population is reduced. There is a womens jail, there is the mens facility in elmwood in milpitas, the main jail complex at the downtown san jose near the county, and then were also active in the juvenile probation
