Turtle Mound, the tallest shell mound in the mainland United States, is an example of what it looks like when proactive measures are taken to preserve and monitor a coastal mound. But for this mound and hundreds of Indigenous cultural sites in Florida, archeologists are asking how long they can race against erosion.
The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum will kick off the Fall 2020 season with a solo exhibition by M. Florine Démosthène, entitled “Always in All Ways.” The exhibition will be on view from Sep. 6 through Oct. 22, 2022 and will include twelve new mixed media works on paper and new sculptures. Démosthène will give a walkthrough of the exhibition in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.
