Covid-19 Vaccination Latest: Senior citizen vaccines start next week
The KZN government is on a drive to vaccinate more than 900 000 senior citizens and has called on people to register for the Covid-19 jab.
He said almost 200 000 senior citizens had registered by 10 May,
To raise awareness and increase the number of senior citizens who come forward to received the Covid-19 vaccine, the department has undertaken the following activities:
• Instructed all health facilities to establish help desks to assist the elderly with registration for the Covid-19 vaccine.
• Engaged municipal offices throughout the province to assist those that might find it difficult to self-register on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS).
COVID-19 vaccine latest: Extra sites identified for KZN jab rollout
KZN government will use an incremental approach by increasing vaccination sites as the programme is scaled up for phase 2 and 3.
KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Premier, Sihle Zikalala says the province has identified extra vaccination sites as plans to complete the first phase and gear up for the second phase are underway.
Zikalala held a briefing about the COVID-19 status quo of the province on Sunday, 25 April.
KZN SECOND PHASE VACCINE ROLL-OUT PLAN
During the briefing, Zikalala said that the vaccination for Phase 1(b) and Phase 2 will run simultaneously.
“For instance, we will be vaccinating essential workers aged 40 years and above, at the same time as we vaccinate people in congregant settings, and those with co-morbidities, who are aged 18 years and above.
