Madison County awarded federal funds for Emergency Food and Shelter programs

Madison County, N.Y. — The United Way of Greater Oneida (UWGO) announced Madison County has been chosen to receive $31,666 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from The Salvation Army; American Red Cross; The Jewish Federations of North America; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; and, United Way Worldwide. The UWGO said a local board, made up of representatives from service agencies in the area, will determine how the funds awarded to Madison County are to be distributed among the local service agencies that run emergency food and shelter programs in the area. This board is also responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
