The change.org petition, called “Save Students Futures and Not Count N3 Grades for CMCSS schools,” was started on Tuesday evening by Aiden Carter, a 17-year-old junior who plays offensive and defensive line for the Northwest Vikings football team. CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On Friday, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System announced that traditional students in grades seven through 12 will return to in-person learning on Monday, Feb. 8. The older, traditional students have been learning remotely since Dec. 16 due to staffing issues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pre-K through 6th grades returned to in-person learning on Jan. 25, while the older students continued learning remotely. The decision to phase the return of traditional students after the winter break was also caused by a staffing and substitute teacher shortage, according to a message CMCSS sent out to families of traditional students in grades seven through 12.
