Healthy Davis Together sees big jump in COVID cases

Last Wednesday, Healthy Davis Together collected 47 positive samples from its COVID-19 testing in and around Davis.
Those 47 positive cases didn’t just represent the highest single-day total in months; they tied the all-time high of 47 collected on Jan. 3 at the height of the winter surge.
Last week alone, Healthy Davis Together reported 209 positive test results and a test positivity rate of 2.16 percent, the highest since early January.
The highly contagious Delta variant continues to fuel the latest surge, accounting for 117 of the 120 positive cases identified by Healthy Davis Together between July 18-24.
