in scene after scene. the most offensive thing is to hear people get on tv, some of them very well-meaning, and saying, we have to do this in order to make sure that these things end. ensure that this doesn t happen again. but you know what? it does happen again and it will happen again, and it will go on and on and on because the united states senate will not pass a common sense solution, partial solution, to what s going on. mental health is surely annish an issue, but the idea that universal background checks won t help, the idea of raising the age to purchase an assault rifle, an ar-15 until you re 21, not 18, wouldn t help? that is ridiculous. of course it would help. david, i m sorry to involve you in basically, you know, a wearying and emotional argument about what we saw, but, again, back to your point about the
parents who will face this set of circumstances because elected officials don t have the courage and wherewithal to come together and try to find common sense solution. i have an elected official here, a local elected official. the commissioner here in uvalde. ronald garza. when you see what looks like members of your community screaming, pleading with the governor, pleading with the president, do something, what do you hear on a local level? i understand that there s not much you can do on a local level when it comes to either the gun issue or the social issues that lead to this. what s your reaction to that? you know, dana, i m a good listener, and i hear both sides of the story, you know, groups saying we need more gun control. the other group saying it s not a gun problem but a people
a mental health problem. mental health problems exist or world over. united states is unique in that 300,000 students since columbine have experienced gun violence. 19 good guys with a gun stood outside a classroom there is that argument. when you say republicans lack the courage to get something done. i m curious to know why. are there powerful positions in congress? is that were important to them than implementing a common sense solution? are they intimidated? or do they not care or not even see this as a problem? i don t know which of these prospects is worse. what is it? i think some of them are generally extremists on this issue. but i think the majority of, them including senator ted cruz, are actually just scare.
economy took off and even though we did build up the debt, people will take that sense of american growth again. we just had it two years ago. john: and for the record, i did not cover the reagan administration. brian: jacqui, can you double check that? jacqui: what you said about inflation, the biden administration keeps blaming 70% of the inflation from the march report on energy prices and the putin price hike. i asked them to explain how they got to that number. they did give me some background. but if so much of this inflation has to do with energy prices and what has the biden administration done to bring those down. releasing e-15 gas only available in less than 2% of the country s gas stations, putting barrels from the strategic reserve on the market, but it s not making a dent in the prices. clearly there is a common sense solution that they really don t want to embrace.
things like it inflation, gas prices, our southern border. life after covid, but time and time again they continue to fail the american people on these things and then to add insult to injury, you have joe biden out there traveling across the country sort of wandering around trying to tout an infrastructure package. it s almost like rubbing salt in the wound to the american people. no one cares about infrastructure, joe biden, when they can t afford their rent and their groceries. so, i am going to agree with these democrats here. none of this is hopeful for them as they head towards these midterms. and until the biden administration wakes up and starts it realize that i think the poll numbers are going to tank. and i mean they are just going to have to brace for impact as we head towards november. from the midterms to 2024, rnc voting to withdraw from the commission on presidential debates because it is, quote, biased and refuses to enact simple and common sense reforms
