Major shakeup rocks Nigerian Navy as 257 senior officers get new postings

A statement by the Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore Suleiman Dahun, said the shakeup was a sequel to the appointment of new Service Chiefs. The statement read, “The Nigerian Navy has released major postings of its senior officers following the recent appointment of new Service Chiefs. The major postings involved a total of 257 senior officers. The postings affected 60 rear admirals, 123 commodores and 74 captains.” “In the postings, Rear Admiral Francis Isaac, formerly the Navy Secretary, has been appointed Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters while Rear Admiral Abraham Adaji, formerly Group Managing Director, Nigerian Navy Holdings Limited is now the Chief of Training and Operations, Naval Headquarters.

CNS Warns Naval Personnel against Collusion with Drug Barons

By Kingsley Nwezeh The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo, yesterday warned Navy personnel against collusion with drug barons, economic saboteurs, kidnappers and armed robbers. He gave the warning at a meeting with Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Flag Officers Commanding (FOCs) and commanders of autonomous units where he unveiled his mission for the Nigerian Navy. At the meeting, which was held at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja, Gambo said his administration would not condone indiscipline and criminal activities. A statement issued by the Director of Information and Publicity, Commodore Suleiman Dahun, said “the established policies and measures to sanction identified Nigerian Navy personnel that collude with economic saboteurs, drug traffickers/barons, bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers shall be overhauled and strengthened”.
