The Committee on Enforced Disappearances this afternoon concluded its consideration of the initial report of Mongolia on measures taken to implement the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
Committee Experts said it seemed that the definition of the crime of enforced disappearance in article 13.4 of the Criminal Code did not fully comply with that of the Convention. The sentences for crimes of enforced disappearance against minors and pregnant women were too vague and too short, as was the five-year statute of limitations.
