When we think about the cold war the scariest moment was the cuban missile crisis in october 1962. Where were you october 1962 and talk to us about your experience with the cuban missile crisis . It marks the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the cold war immediately after world war ii in 1945. You attended georgia tech. Greta van susteren graduated from emory university. Served in the coast guard. Came back to georgia, practiced law. Served in the Georgia House of representatives. You were elected to the United States senate in 1972 and served for 24 years until you left in 1996 including eight of those years as chair of the Senate Armed Services committee. Since retiring from the senate you cofounded with ted turner and know cochair the Nuclear Threat initiatives. But as we go through the week it will gradually cool off and were even watching out for some nearby rain chances.
