License plate-reading cameras installed at intersections would help find stolen vehicles and deter crime, a Galt police officer said when describing a proposed program to the Galt Public Safety Committee.
The Public Safety Committee discussed ways to resolve local traffic concerns on July 26, including the parking situation around Meadowview Park. Part of that discussion included partially closing the cross street.
Especially during baseball games, the limited parking around Meadowview leads some people to park on the south side of Kost Road and cross fast-moving traffic near the uncontrolled intersection with Meadowview Drive.
Any modifications in the area are hampered by the fact that the northern half of that stretch of Kost is in Galt, while the southern half is under the jurisdiction of Sacramento County.
âI feel personally that thatâs a very dangerous intersection. I have handled it a few times because my son plays baseball at that park every season,â Committee Member Timothy Reed said at the regular meeting. He added that cars parked along the north side of Kost block the view of traffic for drivers turning off of Meadowview Drive.
