On Feb. 11, the Somerville Educators Union membership voted overwhelmingly to approve an agreement with the district to move forward with in-person learning.
The 384-28 vote ratified an agreement that still needs to be voted on by the School Committee, which is set to happen on Feb. 17. School Committee Chair Andre Green, who also served on the negotiating team, said the team is recommending approval.
“We worked very hard for months collaborating with the union to address the concerns of teachers about going back to work in-person during a pandemic,” he said. “By working hard, thinking creatively, and collaborating we’ve come up with a plan that reassures students, staff and families that returning to in-person learning in Somerville buildings is as safe as we could possibly make it, and we look forward to doing so.”
