Lawrenceville, March 2, 2021 – After Gwinnett County Government’s rare Triple AAA/Aaa bond rating was reaffirmed, the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday gave final approval for the issuance of $23.5 million in bonds to buy 39 acres of Gwinnett Place Mall as part of a major initiative to redevelop one of the key economic engines of the county.
The solid bond rating, reaffirmed in February by the three major rating firms, assures investors the 20-year revenue bonds are sound, and enables the county to issue debt at a favorable interest rate.
The purchase is part of an effort by the County government, the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District and local property owners to create new opportunities to serve as a catalyst for redevelopment in the area.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA The heat is on to fight the coronavirus in Gwinnett County, and the Friday opening of its new mass vaccination center is just the beginning.
In a news release, county officials said the 80,000 square-foot vaccination site will begin this weekend to offer vaccinations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., by appointment. The site will be open seven days a week.
Rep. Matt Dubnik named Chairman of House Education Committee
State Representative Matt Dubnik of Gainesville was recently named Chairman of the House Education Committee by the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments. In his new role, Rep. Dubnik will oversee all aspects of legislation regarding Pre-K and K-12 education in Georgia.
Rep. Dubnik represents District 29, which includes portions of Hall County, and serves as a member of various other committees. He has been a member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2016.
