Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center will serve as the site for a regional COVID-19 vaccination clinic operated by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Department of Health.
According to a joint statement from PEMA and the health department, the clinic will begin administering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine by appointment to individuals in Pennsylvania’s Phase 1A and 1B eligibility at noon on Friday, with appointments also available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Registration for appointments at the clinic are available at pema.trackmyvaccine.com or by calling 1-844-545-3450. The clinic is open to anyone who is eligible regardless of county of residence, including Penn State students from out of state.
The State College/Centre County Task Force on Mental Health Crisis Services completed more than a year of work in November when it delivered its final report. Now the borough and county are taking the next steps to oversee implementation of its recommendations.
A progress review committee will be charged with monitoring progress and providing feedback as agencies and staff address the report’s 19 recommendations for changes in the county’s mental health crisis services. State College Borough Council approved the committee’s creation on Monday night, and county commissioners gave their endorsement on Tuesday.

Centre County hospitality businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and related shutdowns will be able to apply for a new round of grant funding starting next week.
Applications will open Monday for grants from Centre County’s $1.8 million share of Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program. In February, Gov. Tom Wolf signed into law the bill creating the $145 million program to provide relief grants for lodging, food and drink establishments through block grants to counties based on population.
“We know that businesses in our county continue to experience loss from the pandemic,” Centre County Board of Commissioners Chair Michael Pipe said in a statement. “This grant program provides critical funding to our hospitality industry and we hope as many businesses as possible apply.”
