Melissa Caddick had been missing for three months after the corporate regulator raided her home in a fraud investigation. On Monday a warrant for Caddick’s arrest was issued on behalf of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for 38 breaches of the Corporations Act. For the past three months Caddick has been at the centre of a major investigation into allegations that she misappropriated more than NZ$21 million from investors, who were led to believe they were making handsome returns from share investments when their funds were instead going into Caddick’s personal accounts. The study of ocean tides and drift patterns has led police to conclude Caddick’s body could have taken three months to drift the 400km to the secluded beach where her partial remains were found.
