Commissioners Arlette Preston and John Strand have placed an item on the agenda for the Monday, Oct. 17, meeting of the City Commission seeking to rescind Commissioner Dave Piepkorn's title as deputy mayor, asserting in a memorandum attached to the proposed motion that "derogatory and abusive treatment toward others will not be tolerated by this body."
The criticism was aimed at City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn who proposed moving the Downtown Engagement Center and removing benches from downtown sidewalks because both attracted “loitering, and a lot of vagrants, and a lot of intoxicated people.”
