Adams Aiming for Summer Reopening of Public Buildings

Town Administrator Jay Green told the Select Board on Wednesday that although he does not foresee completely opening until the summer, he thought it was time to start planning.   Green said currently the town is in the yellow level of the state s COVID-19 categories and that he would not be comfortable opening until the town is consistently in the green or, even better, gray. The levels run from red for high transmission and positive cases to gray at the lowest level.   As long as we are in the red or yellow, that indicates the presence of COVID-19 at a level that could promote community spread, Green said. As you can see there are a lot of communities opening up, but we are a little behind. Is it conservative? Yes but I think we are almost there.

Lions Club Making Donation to Improve Russell Field Lighting

They want to help out sports in Adams, Parks Commissioner James Fassell said at Monday s meeting. They have enough money to do that.   However, with an estimated cost of $65,000 for lighting, the question was how much were the club is willing to donate.     The field renovation project did include repairing existing lights, but with the recent news of a potential donor, Director of Public Works Robert Tober said the town explored installing more efficient LED lights.         Commissioner Jacob Schutz said the Youth Football league also used the field and needed lights. He said the commission may want to see if it was possible to include football lights in the estimate first. If the entire cost cannot be covered, he felt it may be worth revisiting the plan.

Adams Parks Commissioners Hopeful For Some Russell Field Use

Although Russell Field will not be available for the spring season, Commissioner James Fassell asked that the DPW at least consider allowing a late-season game.   That is great. Even if it wishful thinking to have one game on Russell Field before the end of the varsity season, Chairman James Fassell said. A home game against Drury would be on my wishlist.   The complete overhaul of the field is largely complete, however before the field can be used, the grass needs time to establish itself. DPW Director Robert Tobin said the contractor urged the town to wait until the fall before the field is used at all.
