The Butler County commissioners plan to send a resolution to the state tax commissioner protesting the anticipated 24% property value hike for the triennial reassessment saying it’s 'fuzzy math.'
“The need is not there like it used to be, like we were the only ones that would take those kind of patients. Now everybody’s looking for residents,” Dixon said. “Occupancy is way down and there is really no need for us to have to provide that service. It’s losing money hand over fist.”

Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkensâ office is constructing four new roundabouts this year and he said two of them, totaling $3.9 million, wonât require any local money, which leaves funds for more roadwork.
The largest is $2.4 million to install a new roundabout at Wayne Madison and Trenton roads at the outskirts of Trenton. The engineerâs office, the city, the state and federal funds were supposed to back the project. Federal and Ohio Public Works Commission money will fully fund the project. The local share was originally $519,662 each for the county and Trenton.
