The Porter County Board of Commissioners invited Nipsco to its Feb. 7 meeting to address the question of why NIPSCO bills have gone up. Board President Jim Biggs, R-North, frequently cites the high cost of living for Porter County taxpayers during discussions on county spending and has been talking for months about sitting NIPSCO down at a public meeting.
If any of the folks who attended a Monday evening meeting held by the Porter County Board of Commissioners supported extending Willowcreek Road through Union Township, they didn’t come forward.
That project is pegged at $7.5 million, with $5 million from the federal American Rescue Plan Act and the remainder from the Memorial Opera House Foundation.
