Mainland and Hong Kong achieve mutual recognition of legal rules in civil and commercial case judgments and achieve new breakthroughs. The "Arrangement on the Mutual Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Cases by the Courts of the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" signed in Beijing on the 18th will take effect in both places at the same time from January 29. Citing the recent Mediation Act, 2023, the ECA-PM member called for a need to amend section 12A of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015 to make mediation voluntary saying it will reduce the timeline of dispute resolution by three to five months and lower the legal costs that entrepreneurs have to bear.
